The time had come to get a puppy.
We researched and spoke with other about good quality Doberman puppies.
We got Courtney at 11 weeks of age, she was such a tiny little girl.
She was not a show quality, which we were not looking for she was "pet quality".
What was most important to us the puppy was healthy.
This is how we became the proud new parents of our little girl.
On a very beautiful day we drove Sacramento Ca. to look at her and maybe pick her up.
Once we arrived we fell in love with her so off we went with our new baby girl.
As we were driving home we went over and over different names.
Nothing was working, nothing sounded correct.
Had to keep working on this as it is not easy naming a puppy!
Took Puppy on her first big shopping trip and talk about spoiled,
YES her new Daddy was spoiling her BIG time.
This puppy was getting everything. DADDY GIRL ....
She got to her new house and trying to get her settled in.
A couple of day’s later puppy still did not have a name, which was not going to work.
Dave was playing ball with her in the front yard and he tossed a tennis ball,
back she came with it in her mouth to her dad.
Dave looked at that tennis ball and it had the word “COURT” on it.
That’s it Dave says aloud her name is Court!!!
No thank you, that will not work either,
keep playing the "Name Game"!
She loved her Court tennis ball and carried it with her. She was so tiny
I kept telling this tiny little puppy she was not even Knee High to a Bullfrog…..
As I looked at Dave and said her name is “COURT-KNEE”.
LOVED IT!!! Now for the spelling.
That's how she got her name “Courtney” just spelled a little different then it started out.
Her litter had theme was Beached in CA.
WOW that was a hard one.
Her AKC name is Tevro’s Crystal Dreamcatcher.
Crystal for Crystal Bay and Dreamcatcher as we are chasing our dreams and we will catch them.
This was the first time EVER we only had one puppy/dog.
I was so scared she was bored. Courtney started attending Doggie Socials on Sundays
for an hour to play with her puppy friend, then she play at school when we took her for classes.
But now she was alone during the day not a good thing she was bored!
So I enrolled her in Doggie Day camp, that was and is the best thing you can do for a puppy.
It is a fantastic way to Socialize them.
Courtney attended day camp 4 times a week and then every Sunday.
Courtney has attended and graduated from many dog-training classes.
Before she was 12 months old she went for her “CGC”
Canine Good Citizen and passed with flying colors.
After that we did rally at AKC shows.
She obtained her Rally Novice title in 5 tries.
Not to bad since we had never attended one rally class.
Courtney is now registered with the AKC as
"Tevro's Crystal Dreamcatcher CGC, RN "
We are now ready to go after our next titles.
